When I was 8, my father slapped me across the face for laughing at the dinner table. He looked into my eyes and asked if he was a clown since I found him humorous. Upon finishing my meal in forceful silence, I was no longer in the spirits to laugh but to write.
Months later, my father went on to read the awful things I said about him and ripped out the pages while I watched. At that young age, I discovered words held more power than anticipated and used that to my advantage.
Writing is a part of my genetic makeup. I can't resist putting pen to paper whenever good or bad things happen. I was born a talker, and throughout my childhood, people often told me to speak less because I despised silence.
When my brother pursued his paralegal degree in the early 2000s, I would talk his ear off at 7 am sharp, knowing he'd just pulled an all-nighter. "David, SHUT UP!" he would shout. And still, I kept talking.
What can I say? I am Libra; My mind races a mile a minute.
Now, at 23, I can't say much has changed! I admire good conversation, greatly appreciate creativity, and am made to voice my beliefs.
I've put a lot of effort into mastering my craft. I studied journalism in college and enhanced how I speak about life and the world. I love writing that's intense enough to captivate readers amid the digital takeover. Call me old-fashioned, but I greatly applaud one's ability to produce well-written content instead of videography. Nonetheless, I'm aware both can be hard to execute.
Now that I no longer have to comply with the rules of a college newspaper, I can finally talk about what matters to me without filtering anything. This blog will navigate beauty, fashion, politics, lifestyle, arts, and more.
I chose "The Libra Narrative" because I will write this blog from my perspective instead of the third person. Combine my zodiac sign with my love for storytelling, and you have a website.
This blog is meant to be motivational, relatable, and inspiring to those who allow it to be. Since I was 21, I've wanted to start a blog, and now is the perfect time to take the stage.
I'm grateful to those who encouraged me to take this crucial step in my life, then and now. I wouldn't have done it without you!
